Well, Jack, Katie and I went to our state capital for a 3 day get away. Jack had never been to a state capital and it has been a long time for me. We returned home Sunday and we both have been just worn out. I will have pics and tell you more soon.
Now onto a project. Do you remember the “secret” project I was working on for a friend? Well she has received it so I can share it with you. It is a the free pattern I told you about from my friend. It was a fun stitch and I am just tickled that Mickey and Susan like it. Nothing gives me more pleasure than giving something to someone to brighten their day.

So what do you think of this shade of green? It is the color we are using in the living room and it nearly matches the green in our braided rug. I think it is calming and so much better than the dirty white walls under it!

I want to share this with you. It is not a piece I made but I do really love it and it has happy memories. See it was given to me by a dear lady living at the nursing home where I cleaned a number of years ago. She had had it for years but was cleaning out items and wanted me to have it. I cleared it with the boss as gifts from residents are generally a no no. The lady who gave it to me is long gone but i can still see her in my mind’s eye.

Here is Jack’s kitty. He sure is getting pretty and I can hardly wait to see it done.

And here is the tiny bit I got done on my prayer. I am almost done with the secret project and should be able to show it to you soon. I am on the last page of the chart so hooray!

Well, that is all I have to visit about today. Thanks for coming by. God bless you all.

Hello all! Well Jack and I have not been too well the past week. Me with allergies and poor Jack has had an awful cold which he still is not quite over. But I thought it was high time I visited and made a post. I am really coming along on the project I can’t show you yet. And I have gotten some work done around the eggplant on my prayer picture. So the week has not been a total loss.

And I also discovered I have an extra issue of my favorite cross stitch magazine. If you are interested leave a comment telling me so. If enough people are interested I will draw a name on Wednesday. If only one person is interested they will get it.

So this is my much too brief post. I will see you soon! God bless.

Tina came over Saturday to do laundry and help decorate the tree. It also seemed to be a good day to be silly as you will see. Here we have the invisible tree man.
jack
Next we have reindeer Tina. I think our reindeer was a bit sleepy.

And this little reindeer seems most displeased with me. Wonder why? LOL!

And look at this surprise my sweet hubby hit me with. A big box full of yarn. He knew I was nearly out of yarn and I so appreciate it.

These are the pillowcases Jack made for Tina. He has another pair that have praying hands on them.

Tina is doing great in her place. It is a very nice apartment and the staff are wonderful. Tina is a very neat housekeeper as well. We are slowly helping her learn to cook simple items too. Jack showed her how to make fresh ice tea. So there is some laughter for you and I hope happy feelings. Until next time, God bless.

Here is Jack’s quilt squares done in pink. I think it just may be my favorite of the three.
I am back to working on my Ruth project. I am hoping a change in stitching will get me motivated to cross stitch more. I am working down along the bottom.
Here is little Miss Katie-Bug today sitting oh so pretty.
And now my best part. First I need to apologize to my friend Susan in OK. I won this in her 400th post contest and it arrived several days ago. I have been very bad at keeping up with anything. This is a wonderful book and rather than try to explain it to you I will give you the website and you can check it out in detail. The Shack Book
You owe it to your self to read this one! Love and huggles and until next time.

I joined a group and registered for a chance to win one of 25 or 50 gift bags on dogster. Well look what came today! Surprised me big time! A bandana for Katie, a toy for her, a can lid for her moist food, a new fabreze product and a pet carrier. LOL! We would have to fold poor Katie up big time for her to fit but it will be nice to carry her supplies in when we travel places.
And this came from Andie. She was giving away a few charts and I got a lavender and Lace one. It is Angel of Autumn. Now I have all but the angel of summer. I will save up and splurge on that one. Thanks and big hugs to Andie!
Jack’s quilt square. Just the big flower to do in the center. He is using both varigated and solid colors and it will make each square unique. We are going to make them into pillows rather than a quilt. The squares came from my dear friend Mary.
Here is my progress on Blue Moon Angel. There are a couple shades of blue floss that are so close in color to the fabric it makes you cross eyed! This is my first time using krenik thread for my metallic too and I am liking it a great deal! It frays less and is much easier to work with than DMC metallics!
See this sweet little baby bunny? He is so tiny he fits in the palm of your hand. I was sitting sewing and Jack was doing dishes. Then I heard a distress cry. I knew it was a baby something but not sure what. A neighbors cat was playing with it and would have killed him. We have a lot of trouble with this cat as it is and I was red hot mad! I chased him away from the baby. Jack got me a rag to pick him up but by the time he got to the door, baby had boogied to the back yard. Jack handed me the rag and chased the cat away again. he was trying to sneak around me to get the little guy. We put him in a shoebox and brought him in for just a bit. Once he had calmed down, I took him back outside. He is now safe under Jack’s workshop and the cat can not get him! He may still die of stress but at least he won’t be played with and eaten by that stupid cat!

So that is all for now! Be blessed!

The mail was very kind to me Friday and Saturday. This sweet magnet and the crown of thorns is from a dear friend named Jen. She made both items. The magnet is now on my fridge. I hung the crown of thorns under my antique Last Supper picture. A very fitting place for it I thought. And I see it each time I come and go out the front door or when I am setting on the sofa. Thanks a million to her and many hugs!

And oh boy am I enjoying this from Souix Sue. Great big hugs to her! The articles about the coast of Texas are perfect! Jack and I want to go down to the gulf coast sometime. If I can get brave enough that is! LOL!
We took a drive Sunday afternoon. It was a lovely day for it. Here is an old barn.
But check out this barn in the next couple pictures! I love it! On the south side it has some clear plexi glass panels in the roof to let light in. What a barn!

This is the 1895 Caplinger Mills bridge. For a time it was in pretty bad repair but they have fixed it up. I remember as a child going across it in a car. Now it is strictly foot traffic and lots of folks fish from it. There is great spoonbill fishing here in the Sac River. The mill is long gone and not many people remain in this little town. My grandmother on my mom’s side was born and raised here.
This once was the hospital in Humansville. Now it is a residential care facility. I love the porches they have put on it! My older half brother was born in Humansville.
This is a poem I got from Patty. I really like it. Kinda sums up my feelings and hopes for my life. I have my little house and a dear husband so my life is very happy.

A Prayer for Womanhood
~Grace Noll Crowell~
1934

God, give each true good woman
Her own small house to keep,
No heart should ache with longing,
No hurt should go too deep…..
Grant her age-old desire:
A house to love and sweep.
Give her a man beside her,
A kind man, and a true,
And let them work together
And love, a lifetime through,
And let her mother children
As gentle women do.
Give her a shelf for dishes,
And a shining box for bread,
A white cloth for her table,
And a white spread for her bed,
A shaded lamp at nightfall,
And a row of books much read.
God, let her work with laughter,
And let her rest with sleep.
No life can truly offer
A peace more sure and deep….
God, give each true woman
Her own small house to keep.
